Although we felt unsure about the process of fostering at first, Homeward Hound was so helpful, patient and encouraging when answering questions and addressing our concerns.
After meeting Sugar for the first time, we were immediately in love! It was so obvious how badly she needed some genuine and gentle love and care. It is crazy to see how much she has changed and become comfortable with us in such a short time.We already love her and she is adapting to her new environment so well. It seems she is at peace after a chaotic and unsettling time in her short little life. We are so happy to be able to provide her with a comfortable, safe and loving home and feel so excited to show her all the joys that doggy-life can bring! We love spending time with our cuddle-pup, and knowing we are helping her to come out of her shell and into a new and comfortable life is beyond rewarding. We are SO excited to welcome Sugar into her FUR-ever home with us. She is the perfect pup for us, and we are so thankful to Homeward Hound for helping bring her to us!”

It is no word of a lie when we say we get calls DAILY asking if we can squeeze 1 (or 10) more puppy into our care because they are outside freezing. Or like Marvin, who came to us super timid and neglected. Or Vinny, who is getting a over $1000.00 eye surgery at the end of the month Or Gus, who we were told has hip issues but we had no idea how severe the issue was until we had him in our care. Or Deedee who has labs all over the place and antibiotics are not helping, so surgery may be our final answer to remove her gall bladder. It all adds up so quickly. Those extra costs are ontop of the regular spay and neuters, vaccines, and wellness checks we need to get every single dog that comes into our care. SO BUY SOME TICKETS. Snacks found her forever home this week! Her adopter has had Chihuahua's for the last 50 years and clearly has the magic touch as she certainly doesn't look semi-feral here! He carries her to bed every night as she is afraid of the stairs, and she wakes him up by barking at the paper boy every morning. We are so happy for them both!
