PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:
We are offering short-term respite care for those who have been affected by natural disasters. This includes but is not limited to the wildfire evacuations from the Northwest Territories. This form is intended for individuals who are unable to care for their dog temporarily due to crisis situations.
By completing this form, you are requesting to temporarily surrender your dog into Alberta Homeward Hound Rescue Bureau's care for a maximum of three months. If after the three months - the dog is not retrieved, the animal will be formally surrendered into the care of Alberta Homeward Hound Rescue and rehomed permanently.
Once we receive your application below, it will be reviewed and verified. A member of our intakes team will contact you once the initial review is completed to discuss the application. Once all of the necessary information is collected, a decision will be made if the rescue will be able to bring the dog into our care. There are a number of considerations that are taken into account when accepting an owner surrendered dog but the first priority is confirming that we have a foster home available that will best suit the needs of this dog.
Veterinary records must be submitted at time of surrender. We will not be able to accept any owner surrender dogs without their veterinary history. Confirmation from the vet clinic about transfer of information to AHHRB is acceptable.
If you have any questions about this process or a particular dog in our care, please contact us at hhrescuebureau@gmail.com.
