🐾Adoptable cat update alert🐾

Before we tell you about our amazing adoptable cats, we wanted to talk about a decision made by the
Alberta Homeward House Cat Rescue Bureau team.
We've decided to no longer post the “best guess” for breeds of our lovable rescue cats.
What we DO know about every cat that comes into our care is that they all deserve a warm, cozy pad, a full belly, and are ALWAYS 100% adorable.
We always appreciate every single human for adopting rescue and not shopping and at the end of the day this much is true:
🐾🐾🐾Rescue is the best breed of them all.🐾🐾🐾

Thank you for understanding,
💛 the AHHRB team 💛

The Adoption Process
Thinking of adding a new furry friend to your family? Adopting a cat from a rescue is one of the most amazing ways to support animals in need! We'll walk you through the process so you know what to expect!
When a cat comes into Alberta Homeward House Cat Rescue Bureau they are matched with the best possible foster home for their known needs and personalities.
We schedule a veterinary appointment to get a good picture of their health and requirements. Before being ready for adoption, all necessary medical & veterinary visits are completed. Your cat comes to you with:
  • full vaccine record
  • spay/ neuter
  • health information from the time we receive them
  • microchip

Steps to adoption

1.    Sit down with your family and decide what kind of cat would be the best fit. Things to consider are personality traits, energy levels, and grooming requirements. Are you wanting a cat that is able to travel with you and explore the world? Or a couch potato that loves a good movie snuggle night?

2.    Have a look at your budget. Do you have the ability to support another animal and the potential of extra needs that could come up?

3.    Keeping an eye on the website, start reading our adoptable cat's profiles.
Take a look at your key list of requirements. We know they are all cute - but we want to make sure they are the right fit for you! We have cats coming in all the time, so if you don't see your match yet, they might be here next week! Rescue can move quick.

4.    When you have a potential dream cat in mind, fill out the application form by clicking the button beside the cat’s profile.

5.    Your application will be reviewed within 3 days with an approval for the next step, or declined if we feel it isn't a match

6.    If approved, we will arrange for a phone call to go over your application and to coordinate a meet & greet with your chosen cat.

7.    You'll head out to your meet & greet to see how you and your family get along with the cat. The foster family can answer questions about the process, the cat’s personality and will also watch to see if the cat responds well to you.

8.    Are they the one? Take 24 hours to go home, sleep on it and chat with your family to see if this is the right cat to adopt. Let the foster family know and they can help you complete the adoption if they also felt it was a fantastic match! You'll complete the paperwork and submit the adoption fee. Then you get to take your new family member home!

9.    Not the right cat, that's okay, let us know that, too! We may have another suggestion for you, or you can wait until another cat comes through our doors that captures your heart!

Important Adoption Note

Kittens are highly social and do best when they have another feline friend. For this reason, our kittens must either be adopted into a home that already has a friendly cat, or adopted together with another kitten. This helps them grow up happy, confident, and well-adjusted, and it also provides them with the play, companionship, and comfort they need as they develop.

Adoption fees

Fees for adoption are as follows:
$500 for a pair of kittens

$375 for 1 kitten
$275 for cats aged 1-7 years old
$175 for cats aged 8 years and older

Lupine & Cosmo

Birthdays: May 25, 2025
Sex: Males
Breed: Orange Sunbeam & Galaxy-Eyed Charmers (Domestic Shorthair Mixes)

✨🐾 Meet Lupine & Cosmo – The Purrfect Pair from Sun and Stars ✨🐾

When sunshine meets starlight, you get Lupine & Cosmo — two brothers who balance each other like day and night! These bonded boys are looking for a forever home together where they can share their adventures, naps, and snuggles side by side.

Lupine is the calm little lion of the duo — warm, golden, and endlessly cuddly. He loves climbing, gentle play, and curling up for naps with his favorite humans. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and always happy to be where the love is.

Cosmo, on the other hand, is the bright spark — playful, curious, and full of charm. With his galaxy eyes and model poses, he’s always ready for a photoshoot or a quick zoomie session before settling down next to his brother.

Together, they’re the best of both worlds: one brings the cozy sunshine, the other brings the cosmic sparkle. Whether they’re wrestling, exploring, or purring in perfect harmony, these two will fill your home with warmth, laughter, and double the love.

Likes: Cuddles, toys, climbing, exploring, cozy naps together, and being told they’re handsome boys
Dislikes: Empty food bowls and being apart from each other

Good with Dogs: Brave and curious with canine friends
Good with Cats: Must be adopted together — total besties!
Good with Kids: Gentle, kind kids make them feel right at home

Freya & Loki

Genders: Female & Male
Birthday: May 2, 2025

Meet Loki & Freya ✨

Born around May 2, 2025, this sibling duo may have started out as a shy little pair of kittens, but they’re now stepping into their true namesakes.
Loki (black male) is the curious trickster — always the first to explore new rooms, chase after toys, and sometimes test the “is this a toy or not?” rule. He’s growing bolder every day and has even begun asking for pets (mischief with a soft side!).

Freya (brown tabby female) is the goddess of beauty and love in training — a little more reserved than her brother, but quick to follow his lead. With patience, she’s showing her playful side, especially when the cat tree becomes their kingdom.

Together, these two are discovering that life indoors is full of magic: toys to chase, treats to win them over (yes, they’ll eat right from your hand if you sit calmly), and the safety to let their true personalities shine.

They’d love a calm, patient home where they can continue to blossom. Dogs are still a mystery to them, but with time and care, they just might warm up. And of course, they’re already litter box pros.

Adopt Loki & Freya, and bring home a little bit of mischief, a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of love. 💛

Good with dogs? Still young and could adapt in a home with a friendly dog
Good with cats? Loki & Freya are bonded and would do best adopted as a pair
Good with kids? Older kids would be best

Basil & Lily
Birthdays: August 11, 2025
Sex: Male (Basil) & Female (Lily)
Breeds: The Velcro Whisker Dream Pair

Meet Lily and Basil — a perfectly matched sibling duo who balance each other like peanut butter and jelly, naps and zoomies, chaos and calm. These two are deeply bonded and happiest when together, and their personalities fit together in the sweetest way.
Lily is the cool, collected one. She’s an exceptionally chill kitten who seems unfazed by just about everything — including a dog enthusiastically licking her face. She’s agile, springy, and graceful, hopping up, down, left, right, and anywhere she thinks a nap might be better. When playtime hits, she goes all in… and when she’s done, she’s done. Lily doesn’t do half-naps — when she falls asleep, she’s fully powered down, preferably curled into the crook of your neck or snuggled tightly against her brother.

Basil is her gentle shadow. More reserved and gentle, he’s a sweet boy who enjoys a calm household and truly shines with Lily by his side, where he feels most confident and relaxed. Where Lily jumps, Basil runs, zooming through the house and chasing toys with bells or anything that makes noise. Basil loves being close — following his people from room to room, supervising daily activities, and announcing loudly when it’s time for wet food. He is a huge fan of treats and will happily demonstrate this enthusiasm.

Watching Lily & Basil interact is genuinely heart-melting, and they are looking for a home that will welcome them as the inseparable pair they are.

Likes: Treats, bell toys, climbing and jumping, intense play sessions followed by deep naps, cuddling humans or each other.
Dislikes: Basil can startle with loud noises, sudden movements, unexpected surprises

Good with dogs? Yes — Lily is excellent with dogs, and Basil does well with calm, respectful dogs.
Good with kids? Yes
Good with cats? Yes - Basil and Lily are bonded and would do best adopted as a pair

Cocoa
Name: Cocoa
Birthday: February 19, 2024
Sex: Female
Breed: Chocolate Velvet House Panther

Meet Cocoa, the sweetest little treat you could ever bring home! Cocoa is a calm and gentle girl with surprise bursts of playful energy. One minute she’ll be elegantly lounging on her windowsill throne, and the next she’ll be chasing her wand toy or swatting her ball with champion-level precision.

She comes running to her name and is happiest rubbing against your legs with all her might, hoping for chin scratches and ear rubs. Cocoa is also a polite little greeter—whenever the door opens, she’s right there to see who’s arriving, ready to welcome them with her soft curiosity. This velvety girl doesn’t mind being picked up, is wonderfully cooperative with claw trims, and knows the sound of the treat bag like it’s music. Cocoa is already showing what a dream housemate she is: no scratching the furniture, no counter surfing, and no table climbing. She’s truly a “just right” cat—playful, affectionate, and polite.

Likes: Window sill lounging, greeting you at the door, rubbing against your legs, treats, chin and ear scratches, catnip, and secretly nibbling spider plants.
Dislikes: Not the biggest fan of dogs up close (she’d rather admire them from a safe distance).

Good with Dogs? Prefers to admire from afar
Good with Cats? Yes
Good with Kids? Yes

She’s begun to explore the simple joys of being safe and loved: curling up on a soft spot, testing out the couch, and enjoying the warmth of gentle head scratches. Leo loves interactive play and is known for his signature sneak attacks, quietly approaching from behind before gently nibbling fingers or toes.
Curious and confident, Leo enjoys surveying his kingdom from high places and spending time watching the world go by through the window. He thrives on companionship and playtime, especially with his siblings, and always brings a fun, mischievous energy to the room.

As the biggest kitten in the litter, Juno has fully embraced her role as the boss of playtime.
She’s high-energy, playful, and endlessly entertaining. Juno loves chasing her littermates, toys, and occasionally your hands (with enthusiasm).
