🐾Adoptable cat update alert🐾

Before we tell you about our amazing adoptable cats, we wanted to talk about a decision made by the
Alberta Homeward House Cat Rescue Bureau team.
We've decided to no longer post the “best guess” for breeds of our lovable rescue cats.
What we DO know about every cat that comes into our care is that they all deserve a warm, cozy pad, a full belly, and are ALWAYS 100% adorable.
We always appreciate every single human for adopting rescue and not shopping and at the end of the day this much is true:
🐾🐾🐾Rescue is the best breed of them all.🐾🐾🐾

Thank you for understanding,
💛 the AHHRB team 💛

The Adoption Process
Thinking of adding a new furry friend to your family? Adopting a cat from a rescue is one of the most amazing ways to support animals in need! We'll walk you through the process so you know what to expect!
When a cat comes into Alberta Homeward House Cat Rescue Bureau they are matched with the best possible foster home for their known needs and personalities.
We schedule a veterinary appointment to get a good picture of their health and requirements. Before being ready for adoption, all necessary medical & veterinary visits are completed. Your cat comes to you with:
  • full vaccine record
  • spay/ neuter
  • health information from the time we receive them
  • microchip

Steps to adoption

1.    Sit down with your family and decide what kind of cat would be the best fit. Things to consider are personality traits, energy levels, and grooming requirements. Are you wanting a cat that is able to travel with you and explore the world? Or a couch potato that loves a good movie snuggle night?

2.    Have a look at your budget. Do you have the ability to support another animal and the potential of extra needs that could come up?

3.    Keeping an eye on the website, start reading our adoptable cat's profiles.
Take a look at your key list of requirements. We know they are all cute - but we want to make sure they are the right fit for you! We have cats coming in all the time, so if you don't see your match yet, they might be here next week! Rescue can move quick.

4.    When you have a potential dream cat in mind, fill out the application form by clicking the button beside the cat’s profile.

5.    Your application will be reviewed within 3 days with an approval for the next step, or declined if we feel it isn't a match

6.    If approved, we will arrange for a phone call to go over your application and to coordinate a meet & greet with your chosen cat.

7.    You'll head out to your meet & greet to see how you and your family get along with the cat. The foster family can answer questions about the process, the cat’s personality and will also watch to see if the cat responds well to you.

8.    Are they the one? Take 24 hours to go home, sleep on it and chat with your family to see if this is the right cat to adopt. Let the foster family know and they can help you complete the adoption if they also felt it was a fantastic match! You'll complete the paperwork and submit the adoption fee. Then you get to take your new family member home!

9.    Not the right cat, that's okay, let us know that, too! We may have another suggestion for you, or you can wait until another cat comes through our doors that captures your heart!

Important Adoption Note

Kittens are highly social and do best when they have another feline friend. For this reason, our kittens must either be adopted into a home that already has a friendly cat, or adopted together with another kitten. This helps them grow up happy, confident, and well-adjusted, and it also provides them with the play, companionship, and comfort they need as they develop.

Adoption fees

Fees for adoption are as follows:
$500 for a pair of kittens
$375 for 1 kitten
$275 for cats aged 1-7 years old
$175 for cats aged 8 years and older

Lupine & Cosmo

Birthdays: May 25, 2025
Sex: Males
Breed: Orange Sunbeam & Galaxy-Eyed Charmers (Domestic Shorthair Mixes)

✨🐾 Meet Lupine & Cosmo – The Purrfect Pair from Sun and Stars ✨🐾

When sunshine meets starlight, you get Lupine & Cosmo — two brothers who balance each other like day and night! These bonded boys are looking for a forever home together where they can share their adventures, naps, and snuggles side by side.

Lupine is the calm little lion of the duo — warm, golden, and endlessly cuddly. He loves climbing, gentle play, and curling up for naps with his favorite humans. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and always happy to be where the love is.

Cosmo, on the other hand, is the bright spark — playful, curious, and full of charm. With his galaxy eyes and model poses, he’s always ready for a photoshoot or a quick zoomie session before settling down next to his brother.

Together, they’re the best of both worlds: one brings the cozy sunshine, the other brings the cosmic sparkle. Whether they’re wrestling, exploring, or purring in perfect harmony, these two will fill your home with warmth, laughter, and double the love.

Likes: Cuddles, toys, climbing, exploring, cozy naps together, and being told they’re handsome boys

Good with Cats: Must be adopted together — total besties!
Good with Kids: Gentle, kind kids make them feel right at home

Freya & Loki

Genders: Female & Male
Birthday: May 2, 2025

Meet Loki & Freya ✨

Born around May 2, 2025, this sibling duo may have started out as a shy little pair of kittens, but they’re now stepping into their true namesakes.
Loki (black male) is the curious trickster — always the first to explore new rooms, chase after toys, and sometimes test the “is this a toy or not?” rule. He’s growing bolder every day and has even begun asking for pets (mischief with a soft side!).

Freya (brown tabby female) is the goddess of beauty and love in training — a little more reserved than her brother, but quick to follow his lead. With patience, she’s showing her playful side, especially when the cat tree becomes their kingdom.

Together, these two are discovering that life indoors is full of magic: toys to chase, treats to win them over (yes, they’ll eat right from your hand if you sit calmly), and the safety to let their true personalities shine.

They’d love a calm, patient home where they can continue to blossom. Dogs are still a mystery to them, but with time and care, they just might warm up. And of course, they’re already litter box pros.

Adopt Loki & Freya, and bring home a little bit of mischief, a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of love. 💛

Good with dogs? Still young and could adapt in a home with a friendly dog
Good with cats? Loki & Freya are bonded and would do best adopted as a pair
Good with kids? Older kids would be best

Nova & Juno
Birthday: October 29, 2025
Sex: Females
Breed: Intergalactic Chaos Fluff & Gentle Supernova Snugglebug

Juno and Nova are a perfectly balanced bonded pair — playful and calm, zoomies and snuggles, all wrapped into one inseparable duo.

Juno (black kitten) is pure cosmic mayhem in fluff form. She’s bold, fearless, and proudly lives life as a certified land shark. Juno is always ready to pounce, wrestle, chase, and launch surprise attacks on anything that moves. One of her signature moves is dramatically flopping onto her back and transforming into a tiny bat, wings out and eyes locked, ready for battle. When she runs out of fuel, she crashes hard — usually curled up with her sister.

Nova (tabby) is the soft glow that balances Juno’s chaos. She’s gentle, sweet, and quietly observant, often watching the action from a safe distance before deciding when to join in. Nova may be a little shy at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes an expert-level cuddler who loves curling up beside her humans. While she’s mostly serene, she does have occasional surprise zoomies that pop out of nowhere, proving she can keep up with her wild sister when the mood strikes.

Together, they are deeply bonded — playing, napping, and growing more confident side by side. Juno brings Nova out of her shell, and Nova helps Juno settle into calm moments. They will thrive in a home that enjoys playful kitten antics, cozy cuddle sessions, and the joy that comes with watching a bonded pair grow up together.

Likes: Juno — wet food (very serious about it), chasing/wrestling/pouncing, post-play cuddle piles
Nova — cuddling beside her humans, observing sibling mischief, calm environments with soft voices
Dislikes: Vacuums (both agree on this one)

Good with dogs? Yes, with cat-savvy dogs and proper/slow introductions
Good with kids? Yes
Good with cats? Yes! They love their siblings and must be adopted together as a bonded pair

Buffalo Bill & Dusty
Name: Buffalo Bill & Dusty
Birthday: July 18, 2025
Sex: Male
Breed: Frontier Biscuit Brothers (bonded pair)

Saddle up and meet Buffalo Bill (Flame Point) and Dusty (Orange Tabby) — a perfectly matched western duo who do everything together. These two eat side by side, play hard, groom each other, and pile up for naps like true trail partners. They are deeply bonded and must ride off into their forever home together.
Buffalo Bill is the confident frontman: a champion biscuit maker, purr machine, and snack enthusiast who loves high cat-tree perches and desk-side supervision during work hours. Dusty is the gentle deputy — cautious at first, but incredibly sweet once he trusts you. He enjoys cozy covered spaces, tidy routines, and quiet lap cuddles.

Together, they balance bravery and gentleness, making them a wonderful pair for an inviting, loving home.

Likes: Eating, playing, and napping together; grooming each other; cat tree condos and high perches; toys and lap time
Dislikes: Snack bandits who eat in front of them without paying the cat tax, dogs who come in hot like they own the saloon (slow intros, please tiptoe in)

Good with dogs? Yes, with slow introductions.
Good with kids? Yes
Good with cats? Yes. Dusty and Buffalo Bill are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Bo
Name: Bo
Birthday: July 18, 2025
Sex: Male
Breed: Country Porch Marmalade

Meet Bo Bo is a soft, orange country gentleman with the fluffiest fur this side of the farmhouse and a face that looks like it belongs on a biscuit tin. He’s a quiet, thoughtful guy who believes life should be taken slow, preferably from a cozy corner, with snacks involved.
Bo likes to do things on his own schedule. Once he decides you’re trustworthy, he’ll hop into your lap for a short but very meaningful cuddle, lean in for pets, and rub on you like he’s claiming you as his own. Bo is discovering his adventurous side and will thrive with a patient human who knows good things are worth waiting for. He’s more front-porch sunset than barnyard chaos, preferring calm company and quiet moments.

With time, love, and a calm home, Bo is well on his way to becoming a loyal little snuggle bug who saves his best affection for his favorite person.

Likes: Quiet companionship, mealtime (his favorite event of the day), gentle pets and soft blankets.
Dislikes: Sudden noises, fast movements, big open spaces, and anything that feels rushed.

Good with dogs? Bo is currently adjusting to the sounds of larger dogs in his foster home. He would need slow, respectful introductions.
Good with kids? Best suited for older, calm kids who can move slowly and respect his boundaries.
Good with cats? Yes, with patience and slow introductions.

Lily & Basil
Birthday: August 11, 2025
Sex: Female (Lily) & Male (Basil)
Breed: Sunbeam Snuggle Sprouts

🌱 Welcome to the coziest little herb garden you’ll ever meet.

Lily and Basil are a bonded brother-and-sister duo who specialize in sunshine lounging, synchronized wrestling, and managing your household from the highest perch of the cat tree. If there’s a sunbeam available, they will find it. If there’s trouble to be had, they will gently (or not so gently) investigate it.
Lily is your classic affectionate adventurer. When she’s not tumbling around with her brother, she’s perched like royalty in the cat tree, soaking up the sun and plotting her next expedition. She loves wet food with the passion of a tiny gourmet chef and believes “being told no” is simply a suggestion. At bedtime, she transforms into a professional neck warmer, thoughtfully ensuring you never experience a draft again.

Basil is the curious little shadow who wants to be involved in absolutely everything. Folding laundry? He’s supervising. Making the bed? He’s under it. Walking across the room? Your feet are now part of the game. He takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once you’ve earned his trust, affection arrives on his terms — usually paired with dramatic blanket pounces and an intense devotion to treats.

Together, they wrestle, chase lasers like tiny athletes in training, climb anything remotely climbable, and then collapse into a cuddly heap as if they didn’t just cause adorable chaos moments earlier. Their bond is strong, sweet, and non-negotiable — they’re each other’s favorite adventure buddies.

Likes: Snuggling together in sunbeams, Climbing, exploring, and mild mischief, Wrestling matches that end in cuddles, Being involved in absolutely everything
Dislikes: Nail trims (the ultimate betrayal), Being told “no” (Lily would like to speak to management), Being picked up without proper notice (Basil prefers to file consent forms first)

Good with dogs? Yes — Lily is excellent with dogs, and Basil does well with calm, respectful dogs. Slow intros of course!
Good with kids? Yes, gentle and cat-savvy children who understand kitten energy will do great.
Good with cats? Yes - Lucky for you, they already come as the perfect pair!

Checkers
Birthday: November 26, 2024
Sex: Male
Breed: Jingly Mouse Champion

Meet Checkers, an affectionate purr machine with a very important life mission: preventing unnecessary phone use. If you’re sitting on the couch scrolling, expect a gentle (or not so gentle) paw to knock the phone away so you can focus on what really matters — petting him.
Checkers is a professional lounger with a talent for choosing the most inconvenient yet comfortable sleeping spots. Open laptops, keyboards, and the top of the fridge are among his favorite places to stretch out and relax. He’s also frequently found belly-up on the floor, just vibing and enjoying life.

Playtime is serious business for this guy, especially when jingly mouse toys are involved. Once he catches one, he proudly carries it around the house like a prized trophy.

Overall, Checkers is a loving, goofy companion who will fill your home with purrs, personality, and plenty of entertaining moments.

Likes: Jingly mouse toys, carrying his toy trophies, belly-up lounging, brushing sessions, keyboard naps, stealing attention from your phone.
Dislikes: Nail trims without Churu treat bribes, loud groups of unfamiliar visitors.
